i have 21 years experience with an international
oilfield service company, Schlumberger...
i was a logdata processor, a geotech type postion,
and i provided answer products to clients on
various land rigs providing oil & gas information...
i have 7 years experience with a local
restaurant/caterer primarily in their catering
department...supervising crews for both
on-site as well as off-premise events....
anywhere from christmas parties, weddings,
baptisms, mardi gras balls, etc....
my extensive computer background led to me
moving on to taking care of excel spreadsheets
of holiday food sales and mardi gras balls
food/liquor orders as well as taking on payroll,
staff scheduling and the lunchtime restaurant
cash register as well as balancing and depositing
restaurant revenue for the day...i also took care
of daily house charges and their monthly statement
mailouts, ordering front of the house restaurant
items such as mints, soda machine products,
placemats, etc....
currently semi-retired and undecided as to what
i might do next......or not....

sherlady you are too kind... i try to treat others like i expect to be treated... with respect, honesty, compassion and courtesy...
i imagine it was the desire to be a teacher when i was young that drives me to help others seek answers to problems whether it is at yuku, cbs, proboards or any other site i post at...
i have always noticed your serene approach to others and the kindness reflected in your words...your warm heart shines through in the words in many of your posts...it has been so nice to read your posts at cbs and now yuku...
Hi Hazel, just saying hello for now and thank you for being you. I used to have loads of photos from New Orleans, and these
were the days w/o digital. Although they are gone now..(my Katrina) I will never forget the beauty of the street musicians, children and even a wagon of
watermelons when I toured the area and checked in with Tulane University in my 20's.
My mom was on a trip and we called me the stow-a-way, it was August... and hotter than hell..my photos made some papers back in the day. Plantations, the
french quarter and a mime that was so full of makeup I thought he would die because he couldn't sweat through all the white powder/zinc makeup. I remember
the b&w photos of kids less than 12 years old and my poor ass taking their picks and giving them my last 3 bucks.
My mom and family always said with an American Express card I was still the only one with no money cuz I gave it all away. Can't use credit to get home...
I told them once from the 'El" in Chicago. In order to get home I bought a bunch a peeps dinner with my credit card so they would give me 2 bucks to
take the train. Pizza and beer 30+ bucks on my card and I had 2 dollars to get on the train!
I went back later and nothing was close to how it was...after Katrina, people lived with us in Colorado, but I think of LA in the same way I think of Indonesia
and their tsunami..my brother came back just before the Tsunami there. With pictures hanging on my wall of children on the surf there..I looked up at them and
wondered if they still existed...if they had family. These things that happen on the news touch some of us more than most, I really think I am one of those
people. I look at where I have been or a loved one is or was and think after these catastrophes..are they okay and how can I help? Sometimes, like my mother
says...I just feel things more than most.

i can recall in the early 60's when i was a young child the local farmer who drove his horse and wagon through my grandparents neighborhood on the northside of town, in lafayette, selling his fresh produce...
as our town grew and the oil business grew, neighborhoods changed and culture came to our french acadien community that was so rich in its heritage...progress came and we gained some things and lost others...
